Thirty-six boxers from Richmond, Bowling Green, Lexington, Somerset, Michigan, Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia and even Tanzania came to Olympic Boxing & Martial Arts in Laurent last Saturday for the 2024 Southeastern Kentucky Boxing Invitational. Arrived.
The sold-out event was sponsored by Imag Title Company, Young Earth Moving, Unity Allies and Kentucky Farm Bureau.
Four local boxers competed in the event, and all four were victorious.
Nathaniel Rogie, 37, became the first boxer to represent Olympic boxing in Laurent, defeating Justin Benton of Richmond by first-round TKO.
Brayden King then defeated Bowling Green's Antonio Music by split decision before the break.
In the penultimate bout, undefeated Southeastern Golden Gloves champion Wyatt Probus defeated Lexington's Logan Etherington by third-round TKO.
London's Aiden Mills defeated Johnson City's Jaylen McDermott by unanimous decision in the finals of the U.S. Boxing Championships.
“When you host a huge event like this, it's very difficult to train properly. There are a lot of obligations and distractions, whereas all other teams have to do is train and compete. , these kids worked incredibly hard to get the win.” Owner Jerry Laurent.
Laurent's next Olympic boxing event will take place this summer, but no date has been set.
