CEBU CITY, Philippines — ARQ Boxing Stable hopefuls Rodex “The Tank” Piala and Eroge “The Scientific” Gula are set to make their debut on Japan’s buzzing boxing scene in June. .
The announcement was made official by ARQ Sports and strength and conditioning trainer Roger Justin Poto, with both Piala and Gura scheduled to compete for regional titles next month at different venues and schedules across Japan. It was confirmed.
Undefeated Piara and Gura will face fellow undefeated Japanese prospects.
Piara will face Kenji Fujita for the Oriental Pacific Boxing Federation (OPBF) featherweight title in a fight card sponsored by Teiken Promotions.
The fight card also includes an all-Japan OPBF super featherweight showdown between Kosuke Saka and Yamato Hata.
Piara, a 29-year-old native of Cebu City, will put his record of 10-0 (1 KO) on the line against Fujita, who is 30 years old and undefeated in six fights with three KOs.
The WBO Asia-Pacific featherweight title deciding match between Rodex “The Tank” Piara and Japanese featherweight Kenji Fujita will take place on June 1st at Korakuen Hall in Tokyo.
Piara last stepped into the ring with a unanimous decision victory over Marjun Tabamo on the undercard of “Kumong Bol Anon 12” hosted by PMI Bohol Boxing Promotions held in Tagbilaran City, Bohol Island. It was a successful match.
Meanwhile, Fujita won a unanimous decision over Filipino Joseph Ambo to win the World Boxing Organization (WBO) Asia-Pacific featherweight title.
WBC Youth Belt Gura Guns
Meanwhile, Gura, a 21-year-old resident of Talisay City, Cebu Island, is aiming to win the World Boxing Council (WBC) world youth super flyweight title. He will face Ayumu Sano in his debut match in Japan, scheduled for June 23rd at Twin Messe in Shizuoka.
Fresh off a unanimous decision victory over Keir Clenton Espere in Masbate last March, Gura extended his undefeated record to eight wins (three knockouts, one draw).
Sano (8-0-1, 4 KOs) picked up his eighth win with a KO win over fellow Filipino Mateo Handig.
