ALBANY, N.Y. — Caitlin Clark will be busy at the Women's Final Four weekend in Cleveland, whether her Iowa Hawkeyes make it that far or not.
On Thursday, the American Basketball Association announced that Clark will be invited to attend Olympic training camp in Cleveland from April 3-5. The Final 4 will be held from April 5th to 7th.
The Clarks-Hawkeyes are the No. 1 seed in Albany District 2 and will play No. 5 Colorado here on Saturday (3:30 p.m. ET, ABC). Iowa State is aiming to advance to the Final Four for the second year in a row.
If the Hawkeyes don't reach their goal, Clark could attend camp with the U.S. senior team. She has won three gold medals with the U.S. Basketball Junior National Team, most recently with the 2021 U.S. Women's U19 National Team.
Clark, who leads Division I in scoring, assists and 3-point shooting, is projected to be the No. 1 pick in the WNBA draft by the Indiana Fever on April 15.
Selection dates for the U.S. Women's Olympic 5-a-side and 3×3 teams for the Paris Games, which will be held from July 26 to Aug. 11, have not been announced. Clark could be selected for either team, but many players could be selected for the U.S. team. Veteran guard depth. The Americans are seeking their eighth consecutive gold medal in 5-on-5, having won the inaugural 3×3 Olympic Games at the 2021 Tokyo Games.
A total of nine former Olympians will participate in the Cleveland camp, including five-time gold medalist Diana Taurasi of the Phoenix Mercury. Other past Olympians include: Ariel Atkins (Washington Mystics). Chelsea Gray, A'ja Wilson, Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young (Las Vegas Aces). Brittney Greiner (Mercury). Jewell Lloyd (Seattle Storm); and Brianna Stewart (New York Liberty).
The past two WNBA No. 1 picks, Aliyah Boston (Fever) and Rhyne Howard (Atlanta Dream), are also among the players invited to camp.
