Olympic superstars Simone Biles, Suni Lee and Gabby Douglas will gather in Hartford next week to compete in the 2024 Core Hydration Classic. All three have officially registered for the event, which will be held at the XL Center on May 17-18.
According to USA Gymnastics, this will be the first time in history that three Olympic gold medalists in the individual all-around will compete head-to-head in the same event.
The Core Hydration Classic enhances gymnasts' process to qualify for the 2024 Olympic team that will represent the United States in Paris in July and August.
The competition in Hartford will be the gymnasts' final competition to qualify for the 2024 Xfinity National Championships, which will be held from May 30 to June 2 in Forth Worth, Texas. The Texas Games will select athletes for the national team who will participate in the Olympic Trials in Minneapolis. , Minnesota July 27-30.
Douglas is the 2012 London Olympics individual all-around champion, Biles is the 2016 Rio Olympics individual all-around gold medalist, and Lee is the current Tokyo 2021 individual all-around gold medalist.
Olympic gymnasts Jade Carey and Jordan Childs will also compete in Hartford.
The two-day event will see junior gymnasts compete on Friday, May 17th, and senior gymnasts, including Biles, Douglas and Lee, will compete on Saturday, May 18th.
