Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has released a new video showing off his MMA-style training for a new project during his hiatus from WWE.
With The Rock leaving WWE TV after WrestleMania 40, there has been a lot of speculation about his next move in wrestling.
The Rock has been involved in several projects during his hiatus from WWE, but is currently training for his most physical role yet.
The Final Boss recently stated that he will be entering an MMA training camp ahead of his role in the upcoming A24 film Smashing Machine.
The Rock plays early UFC star Mark Carr in the biopic directed by Benny Safdie.
The Rock took to Instagram to share a one-minute video of himself training for the film.
In the video, which can be seen below, The Rock performs several sequences using MMA holds while receiving instructions.
Speaking about his first day of training, The Rock captioned his post:
First day. MMA training camp. Preparation for “Smashing Machine”
I'm learning every day and it's such a humbling, intense and motivating journey into this world of martial arts and to become @UFC Heavyweight Tournament 2x Champion Valitudo World Champion Mark Kerr It was a journey.
I'm a hard worker, and I realized that in this role I would have to work harder than any other job I've ever had in my life. This physicality is just part of a larger journey, and it truly is a team effort.
Growth and gratitude. First day. #TrainingCamp #SmashingMachine Written and directed by: Benny Safdie • @bowedtie A24
Prior to The Rock's exit from WWE TV, The Rock had an interesting exchange with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes on the April 8 episode of Raw.
Cody Rhodes shares some interesting banter surrounding his feud with The Rock, which you can read more about here.
