Ryan Garcia slammed former UFC champion Conor McGregor this week after he abused him on social media over his positive drug test. He now wants a “lifetime” ban for the fighter promoted from Golden Boy. The two superstars could be in a battle for big money.
In a brotherly tone, McGregor scolded Ryan for losing his cool, telling him, “If you don't do that, I'm going to elbow you.”
Ryan didn't seem to care about McGregor's advice, especially the threatening part, and retorted: this comment:
“I'm going to break your weak ankle. You ran away from inspection before you were using Lloyd.”
A boxing match between Ryan and McGregor would be an interesting match for fans as it would garner a lot of interest and would be more appealing than watching Ryan fight Devin Haney again. No one wants to see that kind of trash after Garcia beat up Devin last month on April 20th.
McGregor fought Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match in 2017 and gassed up after a hard-fought first five rounds.
The event brought in a record 4.3 million PPV buys. Ryan Garcia vs. Conor McGregor is likely to be similarly huge, with both fighters making a ton of money.
What about PEDs? Who cares!it's all about the show
A match between Ryan and McGregor would have a huge outcome, and it doesn't matter that Conor hasn't fought in a boxing match in seven years. Fans will still want to see it because of the accumulation of trash talk and heavy promotion on social media.
McGregor has been pushing Mayweather for a rematch for years but has been ignored, but Ryan Garcia won't turn down the fight. There's way too much to gain from a fight with him than a disappointing rematch with Devin Haney, which no one wants to see.
No one cares about the recent reports that Ryan tested positive for PEDs. That's because Ryan sees it as a set up to revive Haney's declining career. Ryan would be better off fighting McGregor for big dough and focusing on what kind of pure 100% spectacle that fight would be. Yes, it's like a circus, but it's definitely fun.
