The best bantamweight mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter may not be competing in the world's biggest promotion.
Bellator 135-pound champion patchy mix Will return for first defense of bantamweight title against former opponent on May 17, 2024 in Paris, France Magomed Magomedov. Mix put Magomedov to sleep at Bellator 289 in 2022.
Mix (19-1) is currently in the midst of his career, beating everyone in his path and making it look easy.He lost his temper on the last outing. sergio pettisHe won six straight and unified the bantamweight championship by choking him in less than two rounds.he went to bed before that laufeon stotts Won the Bellator Grand Prix in less than two minutes, ending Stotts' 11-game winning streak in the process.
Despite putting in impressive performances and finishing off everyone in front of him, Mix feels he is not respected by the broader MMA audience as one of the best bantamweights on the planet.
“It's because of the letters in front of my name. That's it,” Mix told MMAMania.com. “Look at me and who they consider the best bantamweight in the world.”
Mix believes his pedigree exceeds that of UFC bantamweight champion Sean O'Malley and that he is the better fighter overall.
“look Sean O'Malleycredentials are next to my credentials. I also faced tough competition. I have more finishes than him. He's lost more rounds than me. He is 11-0 as an amateur, 19-1 as a pro and is one round away from a 31-game winning streak. He narrowly won against Andre the Crocodile Kid (Sukhamtat). He kicked him in the leg and the guy was nearly airlifted out of the cage. I mean, it's like I've hardly ever lost a round in my life.
And you look at every little thing petr yan I did it to him. Look at his fight with Petr Yan, look at how close it was. Then I looked at the magazine [Magomedov]And you see him fighting Petr Yan. (Yang and Magomedov go 1-on-1). I’m the only one out of the stratosphere. Maga fell asleep. Petr Yan sleeps, Sean O'Malley sleeps, and so on. There's no man over there who can seriously compete with me. I think my toughest opponent is probably Merab. ”
While Mix was working on a little MMA math with Yan and Magomedov, he was the only one to finish the Dagestani fighter.
There's no question that Mix is one of the best fighters outside of the UFC right now, but he may continue to be ignored by fans because he fights in Bellator. But like all the fighters before him, Mix remains undeniable.
