McLaughlin-Levrone, who also won gold in the 4x400m relay at the Tokyo Olympics, withdrew from last year's World Championships in Budapest due to a knee injury.
In Saturday's other events, American Dalila Muhammad, who placed second in the 400m hurdles in Tokyo, ran the 400m in 53.53 seconds.
