After returning from the military, Buffer worked multiple jobs, from car salesman to model. However, he could not succeed. His career as an announcer was born in 1981-1982 when he attended a boxing match with his son Michael.
The announcer gave a split decision, and when he read the score, viewers knew who had won after the second goal, robbing the fans of the drama and excitement. When his son urged him, “I think you can do it, too.'' Buffer went for it and never looked back. His iconic catchphrase, “Let's get ready to Rumble!” also became a household line, adding an electric effect to his announcements. But was it always like this?
