Ryan Garcia is adamant that Devin Haney would beat Gervonta Davis if they had a fight.
The American lightweight star defeated Haney on Saturday night and lost to Davis last year, but is confident these two results mean nothing when it comes to a potential matchup between the former foes. There is.
Garcia fought Davis at a catchweight of 136 pounds with a 10-pound hydration clause, which he claims significantly weakened him.
Meanwhile, he competed against Haney at 140 pounds and was 3 pounds overweight, but hydrated and weighed over 160 pounds on fight night.
“Gervonta wasn't a tough fight, he was just weak,” Garcia said on the PBD podcast.
“It's not a difficult fight for me, I would beat Gervonta worse than I would beat Haney.
“Haney is a tougher fight than Gervonta.
“Everybody's going to go crazy here, but I've proven them wrong before.
“You can see in the pictures how I looked for tank fights and how I looked for Haney fights.
“It doesn't really matter because they know what they're doing and he's never going to fight me at 145 pounds.
“That's why he was trying to kindly tweet me, 'Oh, Ryan, I'm going to give you my real phone number now and let's go to the club.'
“He wanted to go out with me, wait a minute, but he did.
“He was just chasing influence, he wanted influence.
“And he doesn’t like Haney either, so I think it was both.”
Garcia continued: “Haney beats Tank. Boxing is a wild sport.
“He beats him just with sheer volume and knows how to use his reach.
“Tank will try to hurt Haney, but Tank won't be able to get Haney.
“Without a doubt, Haney will beat Tank.
“And people are going to say, ‘Ryan is crazy.’ But even if that happens, I have Haney.”
