3rd day final heat sheet
good evening everyone. Welcome to the Pan Am Sports Center in Toronto for night three of the 2024 Canada Olympic and Paralympic Games Finals. It's shaping up to be another busy session with the finals of the men's and women's 400 freestyle, men's 200 freestyle, women's 100 backstroke, men's 200 breaststroke, women's 1500 freestyle and men's para 150 IM.

The session will begin with the women's and men's Para 400 freestyle. Three Canadian record holders will be featured across the two events. Aurélie Rivard, Sabrina Duchesne, and reed maxwell All own national records in their respective classifications. Not only does Rivard own the Canadian Para S10 record, her 4:24.08 is also her S10 world record. She won gold at the Tokyo Games and has finished on the podium in this event at the past three Olympics. She should have no problem qualifying for the Paralympic team in the first final of these trials, but the only question for her is how fast she can swim.
Last night saw fireworks and a changing of the guard in the women's 200m freestyle, and tonight we'll see how the men fare. josh liend and finlay knoxthe second and third fastest qualifiers in qualifying both earned scratches, leaving room for the top seed Javier Acevedo Sneak back to the finals in the outside lane. Acevedo almost sealed his ticket to Paris last night with a runner-up finish and a personal best in the 100 back, so we'll see if he can take advantage of this second chance he has.
These scratches leave the door open for new swimmers to step up and take on the 4×200 free relay. Patrick Hussey took the lead with a time of 1:47.81, alex axon– the 400 freestyle winner – was even further back in 1:48.44. meanwhile, Lorne Wigginton He is looking to bounce back after missing out on a spot in Paris in last night's main event, the 400 IM.
Next, we will shift gears to the women's 100 backstroke. All eyes are focused on the middle of the pool. kylie masse He is aiming to make another Olympic team. In qualifying, Masse ran a time of 58.27 seconds, her fastest time since the 2021 Canadian Olympic Trials. It was a big swim from Masse.She has had a tough year, but she wants to prove that she is still capable of disrupting society Kayley McKeown and regan smith At the top of the podium.
GPP Oliver Dawson His Canadian age-group record (2:14.20) made him the fastest qualifier in the men's 200m breaststroke. He edged Judge Migneault in his heat (2:14.86) and the two will meet again side by side in the final.

both Aurélie Rivard and Sabrina Duchenne I passed the classification MSQ with ease and shaved about 6 seconds off my qualifying swim. Rivaldo's time of 4:33.64 means she almost certainly qualifies for a fourth Olympics and has a chance to defend her 400 freestyle S10 Paralympic gold medal.
Duchesne, the Canadian S7 record holder for this event, cleared the S7 MSQ standard by more than 10 seconds in 5:24.68.
