The popular online MMA personality and MMA guru has been working to financially support fighters after they lose on questionable scorecards.
Unfair losses can be very costly for a fighter, especially one trying to survive on UFC's paltry $12/$12 contract. Unfortunately, there's a frequent problem with MMA referees constantly handing down controversial scorecards that leave fighters with not only no wins on their records, but also half their paychecks.
Following a series of poor decisions at UFC 302, the MMA guru decided to take matters into his own hands, introducing the “Robber Insurance Bank” exclusively for fighters caught up in blatant robbery inside the Octagon.
“In 2025, I will be setting up a $10,000 Theft Insurance Bank for fighters who have suffered terrible theft on their first or second contract,” he wrote to X. “I can pay $10,000 per card. Any new fighter whose career would have been ruined by a terrible decision will receive a $10,000 win bonus from me.”
MMA guru responds to immediate criticism
He added in a follow-up social media post:
“We will continue to build excitement for this plan with our fans for the rest of the year. We will pay $10,000 performance bonuses in 2025 to first and second contract fighters. We will also pay fighters who lose and get injured (broken bones/cuts/KO'd). We believe we can adjust fighters' salaries. Video tomorrow.”
He also responded to the immediate backlash from fans who questioned how he would fund such a project.
“People are already talking about how this doesn't make sense. In 2026-2027, this could turn into a small final bonus of $3-5k for first contract fighters. Who knows what 2028 might hold. Someone has to make these guys pay a little more, but complaining about it on Dana or Twitter all day isn't going to get it done,” he added.
He offered little explanation as to how all of this is expected to work, but fans can tune into his YouTube channel on Wednesday, June 6 to find out more.
