Hillsboro Hockey's youth hockey teams will play again this fall at the Orange County Sportsplex in Hillsboro, according to a statement released by team and Sportsplex representatives.
“While the Hogs will continue to play next season, both the Hogs and RFP will work together to grow youth house hockey, develop players, maintain affordability, and build on the long legacy of those who came before us.” “We want the community to know that we intend to respect the Hillsboro Hockey program and all of youth hockey at the Sportsplex,” the statement added.
Originally, house leagues were similar to high school or college intramural leagues, with all teams within a program competing in the same rink. As opposed to traveling, you play against teams from other cities and states. Travel programs are very expensive and often exclusive. In this area, most “house” programs actually play teams from around the Triangle, but he's still within about an hour's drive. Regional travel teams travel to New England, the Midwest, and even Florida.
