OXFORD — The Ole Miss football team appeared to be ahead of the class of 2025 wide receiver Jerome Miles.
The Draper, Utah native was deemed a four-star prospect by the 247Sports Composite and committed to Ole Miss in April, and since then he's only gained momentum, earning a five-star rating from each of 247Sports' individual evaluators.
But on Monday, the 6-foot-2, 205-pound Miles announced he was once again recruiting.
“I want to thank Ole Miss and Coach (George) McDonald for the time and effort they put into scouting me and the warm welcome they gave me,” he wrote on social media. “However, after much consideration, I would like to announce that I will be declining my offer to attend Ole Miss and rejoining my scouting career.”
The 247Sports Composite rates Miles as the No. 228 player in his class and the No. 27 wide receiver, and he visited Utah and Texas A&M last month, according to 247Sports.
Miles' departure wasn't the only bad news for the Rebels on the recruiting trail.
Three-star linebacker Corey Amos also decommitted. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound product of Opelousas High School in Louisiana was ranked as the No. 421 recruit in the nation.
With both departures, Ole Miss' 2025 class will be reduced to 10 players.
