Arika Schmidt is packing her bags for Paris.
The German track and field athlete, who has long been dubbed “the world's sexiest athlete” by fans and websites, competed in last weekend's World Athletics Relays Bahamas and competed in the mixed 4x400m relay in the upcoming 2024 won the right to participate in the Olympics.
“What a night it was,” Schmidt captioned an Instagram Story on Sunday featuring fellow German athletes Manuel Saunders, Johanna Martin and Emil Agyekum.
“From Paradise to Paris.”
The 2024 Olympic Games will begin on Friday, July 26th and run until Sunday, August 11th.
“Olympic season has officially begun,” social media giant Schmidt, who boasts 7 million followers on his Instagram and TikTok pages, posted on the video platform on Sunday, with fans pouring in their well-wishes in the comments section. Ta.
“Good luck, I'm rooting for you,” one TikTok user posted.
“Wishing Arika all the best,” another wrote.
Schmidt traveled to Tokyo for the 2021 Summer Olympics, but did not compete.
She subsequently announced plans to take a “hiatus” from the sport.
“2021 Season ✔️ I’m not going to lie, I’m not satisfied with this year’s race. I’ve worked harder every day than ever before, pushed my limits in every training session, and sacrificed a lot. It hasn't been an easy year due to COVID-19 and a torn ligament, but I still know what I'm capable of and I'm hungry for more challenges,” said Schmidt in 2023. he wrote on Instagram in August.
“I’m looking forward to getting some rest and coming back fresh and ready to train hard again.”
Schmidt regularly posts videos and photos of his matches and training sessions.
Ahead of this month's World Relays, Schmidt spoke about what an honor it was to represent his country.
“I am so honored to be representing Germany at the World Relay Championships in a week,” she enthused on Instagram in April. “Let's get it.”
