UCLA football secured a new commitment over the weekend from four-star safety Jaidyn Hudson. The 6-foot-2 defensive back out of Pittsburgh High School in California visited the Bruins on May 31 and committed less than a month later. He is a member of the Class of 2025.
Hudson, who was scouted by UCLA defensive backs coach Brian Norwood, explained why he chose UCLA: He also received offers from a number of other schools, including Arizona, Arizona State, Auburn, California, Colorado, Colorado State, Georgia, Louisiana State, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, USC and Washington, according to 247 Sports.
“I think the biggest reason I chose UCLA was because of the coaches. [DeShaun] Foster and the coach [Brian] “It's about Norwood and how family oriented they are,” Hudson said, via Brandon Huffman of 247Sports.
The Foster effect continues to have a positive impact on UCLA's recruiting, which has already made major strides in the right direction since Foster was named the school's new head coach following the departure of Chip Kelly.
“When I took my official visit, I knew this was the right place for me,” Hudson added, “I told Coach Norwood and Coach Foster and they were really committed and still are. The coaching staff played a big role. Every single coaching staff I spoke with was really genuine and my parents and I just got a really good vibe from all of them. My family was really excited and happy for me.”
