Australian martial artist great Craig Jones dumped $1 million on Joe Rogan's desk during a live podcast to announce a new invitation-only Brazilian Jiu Jitsu tournament.
Jones, one of the most popular fighters on the planet, appeared on The Joe Rogan Experience MMA Show podcast on Wednesday to discuss how he plans to shock the combat sports world with his groundbreaking new tournament.
Australian black belt boxers will be hosting their own tournament, the Craig Jones Invitational, with a huge prize purse for the winner and boxers being paid $10,000 just for taking part.
Jones brought cash to the world-famous podcast and piled it on Joe's desk to make his point.
UFC commentators were astounded, admitting they had never seen such a large amount of money.
“I've never seen a million dollars in one place! I've never even seen a check for a million dollars,” he said.
“Guys, that's a million dollars in cash. This is crazy. Look, it's crazy.”
“Wow. The people running this really trust you.”
Jones, who is known for his easy-going attitude and sense of humor, explained that he brought the cash to the show to let people know he wasn't joking about the huge prize money.
The Australian hopes the grappling tournament will raise the standard of the sport and reward athletes in a way never before seen.
He has already convinced several big names in the sport to attend the event and hinted that there are several more attendees yet to be announced.
Jones also revealed that she will face female grappling superstar Gabi Garcia in the biggest super fight in grappling history.
“Now, the most decorated female athlete of all time, Gabi Garcia, has signed a contract to compete against me in my event,” Jones said.
Rogan explained that Jones had been joking about the fight for a long time but wondered if it would ever actually happen.
“It's going to happen, 100 percent,” Jones asserted.
“We booked it, we signed this contract, so I had to do a whole lot to get it done, you know?”
