The Oregon Ducks have been on a historic recruiting spree over the past month.
In the last month alone, the Ducks have added a total of seven players, four of which (including two five-star talents) came last week.
On Monday, the Ducks had a chance to add to their third win when five-star Goodland (Kansas) tight end Rincon Cure announced his decision on 247Sports' live stream.
Unfortunately, that didn't happen this time for the Ducks, and Cure announced his transfer to the Kansas State Wildcats. Why?
“I [Kansas State]Cure told On3, “The biggest thing is the culture and the program that's there. I realized that if I chose Kansas State, they're definitely the guys I'd be with forever. I thought that was really important. The leadership there is great, the coaching staff. I love everything about Kansas State and what coach Chris Klieman has done. There are a lot of players that I look up to, and it's a place that I feel comfortable in.”
Cure's decision came after a series of official visits to Kansas on May 31, Texas A&M on June 7, Oregon on June 16 and Kansas State on June 21.
And when it came to treatment, these visits made his choices very difficult.
“This year has been quite a rollercoaster,” Cure told On3 last month. “It didn't go the way I expected it to. There was a coaching change and stuff and there were mixed emotions throughout the whole process. It was a tough process but I enjoyed every bit of it. I stayed true to my process and embraced it all. I played in four OVs and those decisions were a lot harder than I expected but I'm pretty calm about what I saw at those schools and what I want and what I can become.”
Cure is rated as a five-star recruit and is ranked as the No. 27 player in the nation, the No. 2 tight end and the No. 2 player in the state of Kansas, according to On3 Industry Rankings.
