In his 10,000 meter debut, Northern Arizona's Nico Young set an NCAA men's record with a time of 26:52.72 in a thrilling finish sprint against tonight's Paris Section champion Fisher. Joining Young in the previous NCAA 10,000 meter record was New Mexico's Habtom Samuel, who placed fifth in 26:53.84, also setting the standard. Sam Chelanga's record of 27:08.49 has stood since 2010.
Weini Kelati's time of 30:33.82 currently ranks sixth all-time in the U.S. women's 10,000 meters. She finished second to Gebrselama.

How can I qualify for the Olympics in track and field?
1,810 athletes (905 women and 905 men) are scheduled to participate in the 2024 Paris Olympics. Half of the spots will be given to those who meet the eligibility criteria within the qualifying period, and the remaining half will be determined in the order of the World Athletics Rankings within the ranking period for each event. The ranking period will be the same as the qualifying period for each individual event, from July 1, 2023 to June 30, 2024. Up to three athletes can qualify in each individual event. How qualified are you for the 2024 Paris Olympics?
The qualification window for the first eligible event will open on December 31, 2022, and the qualification window for all events will end on June 30, 2024.
