EA Sports College Football 25 released its player rankings as we count down to the video game's release this month, and there were some surprises among the top 100 players.
Notably, no player received the highest score of 99 points, and the quarterback position in particular was somewhat disappointing, with the top-ranked signal caller receiving a 93 point rating.
1. Will Johnson. The Michigan cornerback received an overall rating of 96.
2. Will Campbell. The same can be said for LSU's offensive tackle, who came in 96th.
3. Ollie Gordon II. Oklahoma State University's Starbucks overall rating is 96.
4. James Pierce Jr. The Tennessee edge rusher came in with a 95.
5. Caleb Downs. The 95-year-old All-American safety transferred from Alabama to Ohio State.
6. Travis Hunter. The Colorado two-way star received a 95-point rating.
7. Malachi Starks. Georgia's safety received a 95-point rating.
8. Mason Graham. The Michigan defensive tackle received 95 points.
9. Quintion Judkins. The former SEC rushing champion transferred to Ohio State.
10. Tate Rutledge. Georgia's right guard will be guarding Carson Beck this year.
11. Luther Baden. Missouri's star receiver received a 94 grade.
12. Benjamin Morrison. Notre Dame's star cornerback received 94 points.
13. Kelvin Banks. The Texas offensive tackle is the Longhorns' highest-ranked player.
14. Tetairoa McMillan. In one half of Arizona's great aerial attack, WRs scored 94 points.
15. Barrett Carter. The linebacker, a big part of Clemson's defense, had a grade of 94.
16. Jay Higgins. Iowa's tough middle linebacker returns this season.
17. Shedul Sanders. The highest-ranked quarterback and Colorado star received a 93.
18. Carson Beck. The talented Georgia point guard was ranked in the top 25.
19. Emeka Egbuka. Ohio State's leading receiver received a grade of 93.
20. Michael Williams. Georgia's outside linebackers anchored a strong front seven.
21. Deon Walker. The Kentucky third-year defensive tackle is the school's highest-ranked player.
22. Omarion Hampton. The tailback, a key part of UNC's offensive stability, scored 93 points.
23. Trevion Henderson. Ohio State's top returning back received a 93 grade.
24. Aerionte Ercelie. Minnesota's blindside tackle is the Gophers' top-ranked player.
25. Jadon Ott. The California tailback rushed for more than 1,300 yards and 12 touchdowns last year.
Ohio State leads the way with eight players on EA Sports' Top 100 Players rankings. In addition to the four aforementioned stars, Buckeyes front seven defenders Jack Sawyer (29th) and Tyreik Williams (54th), guard Donovan Jackson (46th) and cornerback Denzel Burke (51st) are also on the list.
SEC rivals Georgia and Alabama came in second with six players each selected. Center Parker Brailsford was the Crimson Tide's highest-ranked player, ranking 32nd with a 92 overall rating, while quarterback Jalen Milroe was 71st with a 90 overall rating.
Big Ten powerhouses Michigan and Oregon tied for third with five players each. Ducks quarterback Dillon Gabriel was the team's highest-ranked player, coming in 30th overall with a grade of 92. Receivers Tez Johnson (59th, 91st) and Evan Stewart (85th, 90th) also were selected.
Wolverines tailback Donovan Edwards, one of three players to appear on the cover of CFB 25, was ranked 49th in the player rankings with a score of 91 points.

As expected, the Big Ten and SEC were the conferences with the most players in the top 100 rankings.

Electronic Arts kicked off rankings week with a poll of the top 25 toughest stadiums to play in in college football, which is sure to get people talking ahead of the July 19 release of CFB 25 .
We then announced the best offense in the game, followed by our prediction of the best defense.
Then, as a grand finale, EA Sports released their top 25 rankings of the best teams overall. And as each ranking was released, fans fiercely debated and rejected many of the teams that were selected.
