The LSU football staff continues its recruiting efforts behind the scenes, and the wide receiver big board is taking shape after a busy weekend in Baton Rouge.
The weekend of April 12 was always set to be a big one for this program, and now that it's in the rearview mirror, the dust is starting to settle.
LSU welcomes a number of top prospects from both the 2025 and 2026 cycles to the Tigers' spring game on Saturday, April 13th.
It's been a busy 72 hours for LSU, from America's No. 1 quarterback heading to town to America's No. 2 wideout arriving.
Wide receiver big board:
Dacorien Moore: America's No. 1 wide receiver
Moore made his commitment to LSU clear in August 2023 and has remained steadfast in his commitment ever since. He remains locked in with Brian Kelly and the Tigers, but is certainly enjoying the recruiting process.
Currently, Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State are making noise, with three schools trying to keep him away from attending LSU.
Over the weekend, Moore traveled to Ohio to visit the Buckeyes' staff, choosing not to travel to Baton Rouge for the spring game.
Although the decision raised some eyebrows, Moore has since corrected himself and confirmed that he is 1000% committed to LSU.
It's clear the Tigers will be on high alert for the next few months until Coach Moore puts pen to paper in December.
Karik Lockett: America's No. 2 wide receiver
The Locketts headed to Baton Rouge on Friday afternoon for a weekend stay with Bryce Underwood, the No. 1 quarterback in the country.
The coveted wideout remained in town all weekend and officials believe the visit went “very well” as the Tigers move up the visiting list.
Lockett is currently scheduled to return to LSU for an official visit from May 31 to June 2, where he will be joined by several valuable targets, including the No. 1 cornerback for the 2025 cycle. There's probably no one bigger than DJ Pickett.
I like this spot as the Rockets continue to check on LSU. There will be a battle for his services, but the Bayou Bengals are gaining momentum.
Caleb Cunningham: America's No. 3 wide receiver
LSU has already received visits from caleb cunningham With more wideouts expected to come to town over the next two months this spring, the campus visit was a productive one for the coveted target.
The five-star recruit from Mississippi State was accompanied by some of the nation's top recruits on his return trip to The Boot.
Cunningham gained game day experience last fall and is aiming for an official visit to Baton Rouge in the near future after a positive visit.
Some notes:
Wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton appears to be swinging for the fences again after acquiring an impressive wide receiver last offseason. With commitments already from top wideouts and the No. 2 wide receiver set to return for an official visit, it's clear his formula is working in the South.
Moore, Cunningham and Lockett, the top three receivers in the country, all have their eyes on LSU as they prepare to play official visiting schedules this summer and into the fall.
The Bayou Bengals will fend off the Texas Longhorns and Oregon Ducks with Moore's services in the late stages, but Moore's commitment thus far is a big boost for LSU.
Another important point is that LSU has already committed to Louisiana's No. 1 wide receiver, Taron Francis. The Tigers, who are active in scouting, quickly secured his role.
The LSU wide receiver big board includes:
– No. 1 WR Dacorien Moore (commit)
– No.2 WR Karik Lockett
– No. 3 WR Caleb Cunningham
– No.6 WR CJ Wiley
– No. 8 WR Jamie French
– No. 13 WR Derek Meadows
– 4-star WR Cortez Mills
When it comes to the 2025 cycle, LSU holds the second class in the nation, topped by a trio of top players at each position.
bryce underwood: No. 1 quarterback, No. 1 overall prospect in 2025.
harem berry: No.1 running back
dacorien moore: No.1 wide receiver
Now, the Tigers are looking to make more noise in recruiting as they look to solidify their 2025 class.
