The first event at the 2024 Paris Olympics will be the men's soccer match.
Men's soccer is one of just two sports that will begin play on Wednesday, two days before the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympics. Teams that have qualified for the Olympic tournament will play their first group stage match on July 24, meaning eight matches will be played on the first day of competition.
The highlight of the first day of competition will be the opening match between Olympic hosts France and the United States, whose under-23 teams will be looking to get off to a strong start to the tournament in order to advance from a group that also includes Guinea and New Zealand.
