Four new sports will debut at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, France.
Logan Edra, 20, better known as B-Girl “Logistics,” is an Olympic hopeful aiming to make her debut in breakdancing, which has roots in New York.
The 2021 BC One World Champion said: “I feel like I deserve it. And I think I deserve it because of everything I'm doing and how hard I've worked. “To be honest, I get emotional thinking about going to the World Championships,” he said. The Paris Olympics represents breaking and represents myself and hip-hop because it's such a huge platform. ”
Breaking is also the first dance sport to compete on this stage.
“It's like an all-encompassing dance form. It's athletic, but it's also artistic, it's musical. It's not gymnastics, but it's like gymnastics is dance, and it has a hip-hop vibe and energy. It’s something.”
Logan's next match will be the Olympic qualifying series in late spring, which will be a one-day match.
“It's a great opportunity and an honor. I'm pretty confident. So I'm excited.”
It's been a long journey for the San Diego native, who first got her break at the age of eight.
“I think it's very hard to break out as a young Asian woman, or anyone else. You think, 'Who wants to throw their bodies on the ground and spin their heads every day?' ” I don’t know how or why I feel this way or want to, but I feel like there is something spiritually connected to me. ”
The break contest consists of two events, one for men and one for women, with 16 B-Boys and 16 B-Girls competing in solo battles.
“It's really crazy every time a little girl comes up to me and says, 'You inspired me or I'm your biggest fan' or something like that. Because I Because I feel like I'm still connected to that little girl in my heart's younger self. ”
The breaking news event will be held on August 9th and 10th at La Concorde Urban Park.
Surfing, skateboarding and sport climbing will also be added to this year's competition.
