You may be familiar with the Kansas City Jazz and Kansas City BBQ, but CPKC Stadium is planning something a little different: Kansas City Soccer.
What does that mean specifically? Well, it's a bit of a mystery.
If you ask Kansas City Current coach Vlatko Andonovski, it's “gifted resilience” and something that “literally gets in people's faces.”
Ask Kansas City forward Alexa Spaenstra and she'll say it's “connection” and “creativity.”
“When you look at our play, [it’s] “Tenacity, aggressiveness, whether it's defense or the finishing touch, that's what's important,” she said after practice last week. “We can take on the other team in different ways.”
In more concrete terms, it gave the team the longest unbeaten streak in the National Women's Soccer League, dating back to last season, and it also puts them in first place midway through the season ahead of a crucial match against the Orlando Pride on Saturday.
