With only a few games left in the 2023-24 NBA regular season, the league's freshest class is wrapping up its first season.
Victor Wembaneyama is having one of the most impressive rookie seasons we've ever seen, and it's only a matter of time before Rookie of the Year is in his hands.
The new statistical leaders for March are:
Points: Victor Wembaneyama, Spurs
Unsurprisingly, Wenbanyama led all rookies with 278 total points, or 23.2 points per game. He once again improved his efficiency, shooting 47% of his time overall, 31% of his shooting from the line, and 75% of his shooting from the line.
The Frenchman was followed by Hornets forward Brandon Miller and Memphis forward GG Jackson, who had a hot month with frequent appearances in the Grizzlies' starting lineup.
Assist: Vasilije Micic, Hornets
Fresh off a trade from the Oklahoma City Thunder, 30-year-old rookie Vasilije Micic led all rookies with 96 total assists in March. Impressively, he only committed 41 turnovers.
Jazz guard Keyontae George and Portland's top pick Scoot Henderson were next closest with 66 turnovers each, with the two totaling 51 and 48 turnovers, respectively.
Rebound: Victor Wembaneyama, Spurs
Wenbanyama He totaled 140 rebounds in March, averaging 11.7 rebounds per game. Oklahoma City's Chet Holmgren led the way with 126 points, followed by Rockets guard Armen Thompson with 123 points.
The only other rookie with 100 or more was Warriors forward Trayce Jackson-Davis with 108.
Stock (steal + block): Victor Wembaneyama, Spurs
Even if the above stats don't solidify Wenbanyama's already likely Rookie of the Year title, they do ensure that he maintains his status as one of the league's best defenders. In March, he led all rookies with 60 blocks, 46 blocks, and 14 steals.
Jackson Davis followed with 26 blocks and 12 steals, impressive numbers by most standards. Thompson tied a rookie record with 21 stolen bases, followed by Chris Murray, Mitch and Henderson with 16.
