This week in the tech world, Apple announced the latest feature in Vision Pro: Spatial Personas. This allows users to interact with other users' virtual avatars.
Elsewhere, Spotify is preparing to raise prices again and has already implemented higher pricing in several countries.
Rounding out this week's tech headlines are two new Beats collaborations. Beats announced a collaboration with her Alo Yoga in a campaign led by Tyla, while news of an upcoming collaboration with Fragment Design also surfaced.
Below, Hypebeast has compiled this week's top technology articles to help you stay on top of the latest trends in the industry.
Fragment Design x Beats Tease new collaboration
The longtime collaborators have fragmented the design and Beats has unveiled the signature Beats Studio Pro headphones.
The matte black headphones feature a fragment design Thunderbolts logo in white next to the Beats insignia.
Housed in a co-branded black and white rectangular case, the collaborative Studio Pro joins the duo's archive of past projects, including the Beats Solo headphones, Beats Pill, Powerbeats, and a pair of Beats Fit Pros.
Further details remain secret.
Apple Vision Pro users can now interact with each other's virtual avatars
The technology is available after Apple first unveiled Spatial personas, a feature that allows Vision Pro users to interact with each other within a virtual realm, at last year's Apple Worldwide Developers Conference.
Spatial Persona captures a 3D image of the user's head and hands and inputs it into visionOS. Users can bring their avatars into virtual space and meet the avatars of other users.
Users can also watch movies, play AR games, and work on presentations together in real-time via SharePlay.
This feature is enabled via FaceTime. Enabling the Spatial persona requires Vision Pro with visionOS 1.1 or later.
Spotify is reportedly raising its prices for the second time in less than a year.
After raising the price of its premium subscriptions from $9.99 to $10.99 last July, Spotify is reportedly planning to raise prices again.
according to bloomberg, Spotify plans to increase its premium price from $1 to $2 per month. The new price points have already been introduced in the UK, Australia and Pakistan.
Spotify also appears to be introducing a new “Basic” plan, available for $9.99 per month. This includes music streaming and podcasts, but does not include audiobooks.
Beats x Alo Yoga Special Edition Fit Pro Earphones Announced
In other Beats-related news, the audio retailer has partnered with Alo on Fit Pro wireless earbuds. Perhaps even more remarkable is that Tyra spearheaded the campaign.
The headphones are dipped in a glossy black color and polished with a chrome finish. “Active noise canceling” and “spatial audio” functions are all available.
The inclusion of Apple's H1 chip also makes the earbuds compatible with Apple's features, including “Hey Siri.” The Beats app is also available for Android users.
The Beats x Alo Yoga Fit Pro earbuds are priced at $200 USD and are available now.
