“That’s a big asshole!”
ONE Flyweight Champion Demetrius Johnson realized he may have bitten off more than he could chew as he approached the mat.
Standing 6-foot-3 and weighing 248 pounds, BJJ heavyweight champion Michael Sante Medina stands in position awaiting the arrival of “Mighty Mouse” for the 2024 Pan IBJJF Championship Openweight Tournament. Johnson, who is 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighed in at 155 pounds for the event.
“If it doesn't work out, just tell my wife my story, okay?” Johnson told the camera in an All Access video on his YouTube channel.
Regardless of the size difference, Johnson bowed and trotted around the mat, eager to find a way to solve the giant puzzle.
It wasn't easy in the early stages as Medina threw Johnson around like a young child. As Johnson described it, it was like the scene in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze where Rahzar spins Michelangelo in a circle before firing. He's on the other side of the warehouse.
Arguably one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time, Johnson found a way to get the job done and ended up tapping out much larger opponents.
Check out the entire match in the video below, as well as the weight class match in which he won the gold medal.
