For the Glory KC is back with the show's 80th episode!
I don't know if you heard, but Sporting Kansas City was setting records here last night. His 72,610 fans gathered inside Arrowhead's stadium to watch Sporting KC take on Lionel's Messi and company at Inter's Miami CF. The result was a loss, but was there a “win”?
On this week's episode, Sheena talks about her experience in the stands, contrasting it with my experience backstage and in the press box. There was a lot to discuss off the field, too, from the atmosphere to the amount of pink/Messi jerseys.
But it wouldn't be For the Glory KC if we didn't actually talk about soccer. According to Peter Vermes, Sporting KC has made “just three mistakes”: one that went very well and everything in between. thing.
There is also talk of changing the goalie. Striker changes (Cena wants to go pretty far here). Below-average officiating in Victor Rivas. An update on Remi Walter in walking boots and what's going on with him. Pitch Invaders. And the problem of Sporting KC dropping points, especially at home, is inevitable.
After the game, a little rumor came out from The Athletic this week. Some pretty drastic rule changes could be coming to Major League Soccer. Oddly enough, it looks like the rules will change mid-season this summer. We'll explain what they are and explain what Sporting KC could potentially benefit from. If you're interested in that sort of thing, come back to KC Soccer Journal later this week for a deeper look at that possibility and some solid commentary.
Next, we talk about the Kansas City Current's first win of the season as they held out for a tie against New Jersey/New York Gotham.
