As the Warriors continue to make the right additions ahead of the 2024-25 NBA season, they have done the same with their coaching staff.
Golden State plans to hire Terry Stotts as Steve Kerr's lead assistant coach and Jerry Stackhouse as an assistant coach, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Tuesday, citing sources.
Golden State's search for a new head assistant officially began when the team's former top assistant, Kenny Atkinson, was hired last week as the new coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers after three seasons with the Warriors.
In addition to losing Atkinson, the Warriors also saw former assistants Mike Brown and Jama Mahalela leave for other teams and the tragic death of Dejan Milojevic.
The Warriors have been due for a coaching shake-up and this appears to be just the start of it.
Stotts has previously served as head coach with the Atlanta Hawks, Milwaukee Bucks and, most notably, the Portland Trail Blazers, where he coached NBA superstar Damian Lillard and led the Blazers to multiple playoff appearances.
He most recently served as an assistant coach during Adrian Griffin's tenure as Bucks coach, but his tenure was short-lived.
Stackhouse, meanwhile, began his coaching career with the Toronto Raptors after an 18-year career as an NBA player, and also served as coach for Toronto's G League affiliate, the Memphis Grizzlies, and most recently served as head coach of the NCAA's Vanderbilt Commodores.
