The Golden State Warriors are set to add two experienced former head coaches to head coach Steve Kerr's staff next season.
The Warriors plan to hire Terry Stotts and Jerry Stackhouse as assistant coaches next season, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported.
Wojnarowski said Stotts will serve as Carr's lead assistant.
Stotts served as head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers from 2012-2021, while Stackhouse was the coach at Vanderbilt University from 2019 until he was fired in March.
Stackhouse coached Toronto's G League affiliate, the Raptors 905, for two seasons and has also served as an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors.
Prior to taking over in Portland, Stotts served as head coach with the Milwaukee Bucks and Atlanta Hawks and was also an assistant coach with the Dallas Mavericks during their championship season in 2011.
Stotts recently rejoined the Bucks as a lead assistant but abruptly resigned prior to the start of the 2023-24 season after reportedly clashing with former Bucks head coach Adrian Griffin (courtesy of Shams Charania and Eric Nehm of The Athletic).
This won't be Stotts' first time on the Warriors bench, as he previously served as an assistant to Mike Montgomery during the 2004-05 Warriors season.
Stotts comes into the role with over 1,003 NBA coaching experiences, including a 517-486 regular season record and 23-44 postseason record.
He will now replace former head assistant Kenny Atkinson, who earned a five-year contract as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers after leading the Warriors to a title in 2022.
Stackhouse comes to the sideline with 162 games of collegiate coaching experience, having led Vanderbilt to a 70-92 record, including a 9-23 mark last season.
The additions of Stotts and Stackhouse keep the Warriors busy in the offseason.
After parting ways with veterans Klay Thompson and Chris Paul, the Warriors have added guard De'Anthony Melton and forward Kyle Anderson and are trying to build a new championship contender team around Stephen Curry and Draymond Green.
