The Warriors are reportedly committed to a trade for Utah Jazz forward Lauri Markkanen.
That could make Golden State the favorite to acquire the 7-foot big man.
TNT's Chris Haynes reported on Bleacher Report on Tuesday that the Warriors are the “aggressive” team currently in trade talks with the Jazz for Markkanen.
“It would be a huge blow to the Warriors' roster if they were to make this deal and lure the Utah Jazz,” Haynes said. “I'm interested to see how they execute it. But Danny [Ainge]He's desperate for a first-round draft pick. What can the Warriors do to get the pick they need?
“You hear the Warriors are aggressive. You hear the San Antonio Spurs are in on it. So, when you really look at it, it's the Spurs and the Warriors. But more importantly, the Warriors are serious about pursuing it and serious about what they can do to make it happen.”
As NBC Sports Bay Area's Monte Poole reported earlier this week on 95.7 The Game's “Steiny & Guru,” the Warriors have made Markkanen their top priority after missing out on star forward Paul George.
Markkanen appeared in 55 games with Utah during the 2023-24 NBA season, averaging 23.2 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game while shooting a highly impressive 48 percent from the field and 39.9 percent from three-point range.
Many believe Markkanen's addition would cap an impressive offseason for Golden State, who also signed guard De'Anthony Melton, forward Kyle Anderson and potentially acquired sharpshooting guard Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers.
