After signing several free agents, the Warriors' roster shakeup continues with another notable move.
Golden State is acquiring hard-shooting guard Buddy Hield in a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Thursday, citing sources.
In the deal, the Warriors will reportedly send the 76ers a 2031 second-round draft pick via the Dallas Mavericks, the pick Golden State acquired in the sign-and-trade that sent Klay Thompson to Texas.
ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported Thursday, citing sources, that Hield signed a fully guaranteed, two-year, $21 million contract that includes a partially guaranteed $3 million third year and a player option for a nonguaranteed fourth year.
Hield is a veteran who played in the NBA for eight years, and has a career three-point shooting percentage of 40 percent, making him renowned as one of the league's best three-point shooters.
Hield has made 1,322 3-pointers since the start of the 2019-2020 NBA season, the most in the league during that span, with current Golden State teammate Stephen Curry second with 1,264.
As the Warriors enter a new era without Thompson, Hield would provide Golden State with some much-needed floor spacing following the Splash Bro's departure to Dallas.
