The Virginia Tech Hokies ended a big recruiting weekend with some good news: Early Sunday morning, Irmo High School (South Carolina) quarterback AJ Brand committed to the Hokies, becoming the school's second quarterback in the 2025 class, joining Kelden Ryan (DeSoto, Texas).
As it turns out, that wasn't the end of the action for head coach Brent Pry and the Hokies, as DeMatha (Md.) linebacker Noah Chambers just completed his official visit to Blacksburg and committed to Virginia Tech.
The 6-foot-2, 216-pound Chambers chose the Hokies over fellow in-state schools Maryland, Pittsburgh and Boston College. Chambers joins current Hokies cornerback Dante Lovett and defensive tackle Emmett Rhodes as two DeMatha graduates who will attend Virginia Tech. Linebacker Gabriel Williams, Virginia Tech's top 2024 prospect, is also a Maryland native and congratulated Chambers on choosing the Hokies.
Adding one player from DeMatha would be huge. Running backs coach Elijah Brooks helped the Hokies here. Brooks spent 12 years at DeMatha, the last eight as head coach from 2011 to 2018. Brooks is in his second year with the Hokies after a stint at Maryland.
Chambers is Virginia Tech's ninth 2025 commit and third in the past four days, joining Brand and defensive tackle Christian Evans of Ashburn, Virginia. He is the first Maryland player to commit in 2025 and the third from out of state, joining Ryan and Brand.
Chambers is the No. 40 player in the state of Maryland in 2025 and the No. 129 linebacker nationally, according to 247Sports.
Chambers has good size and length and could easily add weight when he joins Blacksburg next year, making him a nice addition for the Hokies.
Welcome, Noah
