How good can the Virginia Tech Hokies be in 2024? Any Virginia Tech fan will tell you they believe the Hokies can be really good next season.
Tech returns 20 starters in the fall and plays a favorable schedule. Outside of four non-conference games against Virginia Tech, the Hokies will face just two teams in the top eight of the ACC's projected lineup. One of those games, against Clemson, will be at Lane Stadium.
Last week on “The Pat McAfee Show,” they were discussing the teams that are unlikely to make the College Football Playoff in 2024. The field will expand from four teams to 12 next season, which is a good thing for a team like the Hokies. Most college football fans would say it's the same group of teams that make it to the CFP every year, so this is a welcome change.
Anthony DiGiglio, better known as “Tone Diggs” on McAfee's show, mentioned the Hokies, and he listed off the reasons he thinks Virginia Tech will grab one of the 12 spots.

Did you notice that McAfee described the Virginia Tech fan base as “amazing”? McAfee played at West Virginia University, so he's very familiar with Hokies Nation. Unfortunately, he never got a chance to play in Blacksburg, but he knows how special the game day atmosphere is at Lane Stadium. McAfee said it would be “amazing” if the Hokies could somehow bring a CFP game to Blacksburg.
What do you think, Hokies? Do you think Virginia Tech will make the College Football Playoff next season?
