Thalapathy Vijay celebrated his 50th birthday on June 22. Fans organized numerous events to celebrate the occasion, but one event in Chennai took a tragic turn when a young boy accidentally set his hand on fire during a stunt. The incident occurred when the boy was showcasing his talent of breaking bricks with his bare, burning hands. After the stunt, the boy struggled to put out the flames and screamed in pain. Nearby passersby tried to help but accidentally used flammable material instead of water, making the situation worse.
As a safety measure, the organisers had placed a fire extinguisher nearby, which was used only after the situation worsened. Soon after the video began circulating online, social media users criticised the organisers for making the boy perform such a dangerous stunt. Just a day before his birthday, the superstar had asked his fans to refrain from holding events following the liquor tragedy in Tamil Nadu. Despite his request, the event went ahead at Suganya Wedding Hall in Chennai.
“This was an accident. It could happen anywhere,” wrote one user responding to the post.
“India is not even for experts,” said another.
“He turned into a dragon and started breathing fire,” the comment read.
Another asked: “Should parents and guardians be punished too?”
One person wondered: “There was a fire extinguisher right there, why didn't they use it?”
Another added: “Kid learns that Southern movie super action heroes don't work in real life.”

The victim was identified as an 11-year-old boy named Krishva from Mylapore. According to The News Minute, Neelankarai Police Inspector Balu said the boy suffered 3-5 per cent burns on his right hand. However, he said no action would be taken against the organisers as the boy's family did not want to create any trouble.
