After 100 grueling minutes of soccer, the Ada High School boys team tied with private school powerhouse Victory Christian in Thursday night's home match.
However, in the end, the Conquerors defeated Ada 1-0 in overtime after a fierce penalty shootout.
The Cougars defeated Wagoner 4-3 in overtime on the road earlier this week and are now 8-5 overall and 3-3 in District 4A-3 play. With the win, Christian improved his record to 6 wins, 5 losses, and 4 wins, 2 losses.

In the girls opener, Victory Christian shut out Ada 2-0. Wagoner defeated the Lady Cougars 2-1 earlier this week. The Ada girls fell to 7-6 overall and 3-4 in District 4A-3 play. With the win, Christian improved his record to 8 wins, 5 losses, and 5 wins, 1 loss.
“The girls lost after a hard fought battle,” Jones said.
Jones announced that he will step down as head coach of the Ada High School football team after the season.
“I couldn't have had a better time coaching the boys and girls in the Ada High School soccer program than the last 13 years. The parents and players have been amazing,” he said.
Both teams will conclude their 2024 spring seasons next Tuesday in Weatherford.
“Tuesday night will be the last game I will coach at Ada Soccer. I would like to extend my deepest gratitude to all of the Ada City Schools administrators and the Ada community for their tremendous support along this amazing journey. I respect you,” Jones said.

Ada honored seniors Sajjad Haider, Colton Scurll, Agustin Palma, Blake Vick, Carlos Morales, Emilio Benton, Kayden Mitchell and Tyler Walker during Senior Night activities.
“The seniors on this team were really great. They all took this program another step forward,” Jones said.
In the win over Wagoner, Ada got three goals from Mitchell and one from Walker.
“Kayden Mitchell scored two goals in regulation time and ended the night with the winning goal in overtime,” Jones said. “Tyler Walker scores from a corner kick sent by Steven Stout.''
“Emilio Benton, Agustin Palma and Blake Vick played really well in this game, as did the rest of the team,” Cole said.

Two Ada seniors, McKayla Rios and Isabel King, were recognized during the Senior Night ceremony.
“The team was led by McKayla and Isabella, not just last night but all year long,” Jones said.
Against Wagoner, Rios scored the first goal and a great assist from Nina Benton put Ada ahead 1-0.
“Wagoner made two great shots to get the come-from-behind victory,” Jones said. “The girls played hard as always. I was pleased with their effort and they continued to get even better throughout the spring.”
