In a lively show of athleticism and camaraderie, students from all three Valley Stream District 24 schools recently gathered for the district's annual 6th grade hockey tournament held at Valley Stream South High School.
In the midst of excitementent, the Robert W. Carbonaro School team won the championship, defeating their peers from the William L. Buck School and Brooklyn Avenue School. A total of six teams participated in the tournament, with two teams representing each school, and if they lost two games they were eliminated. Family and friends filled the stands, cheering on the young athletes during each thrilling game.
“The district hockey tournament is a demonstration of teamwork, athleticism and community respect,” said Superintendent Unal Caracas. “Our students displayed great sportsmanship throughout an exhilarating day of friendly matches. We would like to thank our dedicated PE teachers for their unwavering support in fostering this positive experience for our students. I would like to thank the principal and all the staff.”
