The fight between Oscar Valdez (31-2, 23 KOs) and Liam Wilson (13-2, 7 KOs) on ESPN+ takes place on Friday night at Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona for the WBO Interim Junior Lightweight title. It was upgraded to a world title match. Here's what they had to say at the final press conference.
Oscar Valdez: “I'm ready. I was preparing for the World Championship fight. Then the news came that I was going for the interim title. So I was more excited and ready than ever. And we're going to prove it…Liam Wilson is a dangerous fighter. But that makes it all the more exciting. And the interim title is going to add fuel to the fire. I am very motivated and will do everything I can to win this battle.”
Liam Wilson: “I'm glad he was there (for the fight with Navarrete). The whole world saw what happened. I should have been world champion already. This fight between me and Valdez It should have happened already. That night I won the belt. It wasn't awarded to me. But that's just the way things happened. But we're here now, so the score I intend to settle the matter.”
