SALT LAKE CITY, Utah, June 20, 2024 (Geppert Daily) — Mark your calendars, Utah hockey fans.
- June 28: The Utah Hockey Club will host its first-ever NHL Draft Party at the Delta Center. Doors open at 4 p.m.
- July 1-5: The team's prospect development camp will be held at Park City Ice Arena with one ice session, followed by a free scrimmage on July 5 at the Delta Center.
- Sept. 23: Utah hosts the club's first home preseason game at Delta Center, hosting the Los Angeles Kings.
- Oct. 5: Utah HC concludes the 2024-25 preseason with a matchup against the Colorado Avalanche at the Maverick Center.
There is no official release date yet for the 2024-25 NHL regular season schedule, but it is typically released in late June or early July.
NHL Draft Party
Fans can celebrate and witness Utah's first-ever NHL Draft selection with a free party at the Delta Center on Friday, June 28. Doors open at 4 p.m., and live coverage of the NHL Draft will begin on the arena's video boards at 5 p.m.
Utah has the right to select 13 players in the 2024 NHL Draft, the most in the league, and the former Arizona Coyotes is preparing for his first season with the state.
Utah will have the sixth pick in the first round, three picks each in the second round (38th, 49th, 65th) and third round (71st, 89th, 96th), and six picks in the rounds after that.
The party will feature Utah Hockey Club merchandise for sale in the team store, player appearances, on-ice photo opportunities, paint-your-own puck attractions, face painting, prizes and giveaways, and other family-friendly games and activities.
Parking is free directly across from the Delta Center at Park Place. Attendees should note that they will enter the arena through Door 5 and that a no-bag policy applies.
Prospect Development Camp
The Utah Hockey Club's inaugural Prospect Development Camp will be held July 1-5, with on-ice sessions beginning July 1 at Park City Ice Arena.
The free scrimmage, which will take place at the Delta Center on July 5, will cap off a week of events aimed at providing Utah's top prospects with NHL coaching and mentorship during on- and off-ice training sessions.
Former first-round draft picks Connor Geekie (2022), Maverick Lamoureux (2022), Dmitry Simashev (2023) and Daniil Butt (2023) are scheduled to attend camp and take part in scrimmages, along with forwards Sam Lipkin, Noel Nord and Julian Lutz. Defensemen Maximilian Schüber and Artyom Duda and goaltender Michael Hrabal are also scheduled to participate.
The full camp roster will be announced after the 2024 NHL Draft.
On-ice sessions are scheduled for Monday, July 1st and Tuesday, July 2nd from 9:30am-11am and 11:30am-1pm.
The players will take part in a 4-on-4 scrimmage at the Delta Center on Friday, July 5, beginning at 1 p.m. The scrimmage will simulate a mock game and will include 3-on-3 play and a post-game shootout.
Preseason Schedule
Utah's preseason schedule includes seven games, including one game at the Delta Center and one at the Maverick Center.
The team's preseason schedule will begin on Sunday, September 22nd, against the St. Louis Blues at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, Iowa.
Utah will play their first preseason game at home against the Los Angeles Kings on Monday, September 23rd at 7pm. This game replaces the Kings' game against the Vegas Golden Knights Frozen Fury that was scheduled before Utah acquired its NHL franchise.
Refunds for the Frozen Fury game will be issued to ticket purchasers at the original point of purchase, and the replacement preseason game against the Kings will be part of the Utah Hockey Club's season ticket membership package.
Frozen Fury ticket buyers will also have the opportunity to purchase a limited number of tickets for the Sept. 23 preseason game before the remaining tickets are sold to the general public.
With a scheduled game already set at the Delta Center, Utah will close out their preseason on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. against the Colorado Avalanche at the Maverick Center.
