A rematch between undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury is scheduled for December in Saudi Arabia.
Unbeaten world heavyweight boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk and British heavyweight boxer Tyson Fury will face off in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Dec. 21 in a rematch of their bout earlier this month, organizers announced Wednesday.
Usyk, the current WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO champion, defeated Fury by split decision in a thrilling bout at Riyadh's Kingdom Arena to become the first unbeaten heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis' reign ended in April 2000.
After the fight, Usyk said he was granting Fury an immediate rematch, per a clause in the fight contract.
“The rematch between unbeaten champion Oleksandr Usyk and champion Tyson Fury is scheduled for December 21, 2024 during the Riyadh Season,” Saudi entertainment chief and organiser Turki Ararcik said in a post on X.
“The world will once again be watching a historic fight as our commitment to boxing fans continues. We hope you enjoy it.”
Earlier this week Fury's promoter Frank Warren said he was confident the Briton could turn the tide in a rematch.
“I think he can do it and I believe he can do it,” Warren told Sky Sports.
“This fight was in two parts. Tyson knows what he has to do and so does Usyk. These two fought hard and both were pretty tired.”
“When that actually happens, it will be interesting to see who it affects the most.”
