The U.S. men's soccer national team announced its roster for the 2024 Paris Olympics on Monday.
The team will be returning to the Olympics for the first time since 2008 after failing to qualify in 2012, 2016 and 2020. At the Beijing Olympics, Lionel Messi's Argentina won the gold medal and finished in ninth place.
Although the US had a disappointing finish at the 2024 Copa America, failing to get out of the group stage, their Olympic squad won't include top players like Christian Pulisic or Gio Reyna, but instead will be filled with promising talent in Paris.
The USMNT roster for the 2024 Olympics and their club teams are as follows:
Goalkeeper
- Patrick Schulte (Columbus Crew)
- Gaga Slonina (Chelsea/England)
Defender
- Maximilian Dietz (Greuther Fürth/Germany)

While the Olympic men's soccer tournament is primarily comprised of players aged 23 or younger, each team can have three “over-age” players. The U.S. men's soccer team playing in Paris will have three over-age players: Walker Zimmerman (31), Miles Robinson (27), and Djordje Mihajlovic (25).
The players aren't the only big change between the U.S. team that competed in the 2024 Copa America and the team that will play in Paris. Marko Mitrovic will be the manager for the Olympics, whereas Gregg Berhalter was in charge at the Copa America.
The U.S. Men's National Team will be one of the first teams to compete at the Paris Olympics. The team will begin play on Wednesday, July 24, two days before the opening ceremony, against host France at the Stade de Marseille.
The U.S. will then play New Zealand on Saturday, July 27, and Guinea on Tuesday, July 30 to complete its group stage.
