The United States lost 4-1 to Argentina today in the opening match of the Olympic women's field hockey competition.
Ashley Cessa scored the USA's lone goal with 12:33 left in the third quarter. Argentina led 2-0 at halftime and 3-1 after the third quarter.
Members of the U.S. field hockey team from Berks County are Ashley Hoffman (Twin Valley), Kelly LePage (Twin Valley), Fia Gradiex (Olly Valley), Carly Kisha (Hamburg) and Meredith Sholder, who played at Emmaus but is a Berks County native.
The U.S.' next game is against Spain at 7 a.m. Monday and will be broadcast on USA Network and available to stream on Peacock.
