In less than two months, the U.S. Olympic Swimming Championships will be held for nine days in Indianapolis.
INDIANAPOLIS — In less than two months, the U.S. Olympic Swimming Games will be held for nine days in Indianapolis. More than 250,000 people are expected to attend the largest swimming competition in history.
It will be held inside a football stadium for the first time and will feature more than 1,000 athletes competing for a spot on Team USA.
On Tuesday, Indiana Sports Corporation announced free fan experiences and activations to be held at Georgia Street and inside the Indiana Convention Center.
A 66-foot shimmering replica of the Eiffel Tower will be installed at Georgia Street and Capitol Avenue on June 10 as part of “USA Swimming LIVE” hosted by Purdue University. The 19,000-pound tower will be lit by AES Indiana and constructed by the Latina Welding Guild of Indianapolis.
“This is the largest project we've ever taken on,” said Consuelo Lockhart, the guild's executive director. “We're really excited to make history here in Indianapolis.”

According to the Indiana Sports Corporation, this is the longest period of fan activity on Georgia Street since Indianapolis hosted the Super Bowl in 2012. The economic impact of the nine-day event is estimated to be more than $100 million.
“That's what really makes a big difference and what really impacts the community. It's a day where everyone can come and enjoy themselves,” Indiana Sports President Patrick Talty said.
USA Swimming LIVE, presented by Purdue University, will kick off with “The Starting Block Party” featuring Bloomington-based band The Main Squeeze on June 14 at 5 p.m.Performs from 8pm to 9:30pm
Following the block party, the OneAmerica Financial Stage will feature musical performances and programs from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM daily from June 15th to 23rd.
Headliner acts will take the stage from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

During the week, the Swim, Water, and Paris theme will be played out throughout downtown.
The swim-up bar is located in the middle block of Georgia Street, but patrons don't have to wear swimsuits to enjoy the experience. The bar will have pool party and swim lane decorations.
Five new artworks will be installed around the Georgia Street corridor. Through the “All Lanes Lead to Indy” art project. The Indy Arts Council selected five Central Indiana artists from more than 70 applicants.
spark! on the Circle plans to incorporate that theme into its programming in June.
Downtown Indy will host “Shining A Light,” an audio, video and graphic presentation nightly to honor Hoosier veterans and showcase the red, white and blue.
