Tennessee's 2024 Smokey Gray football uniform takes inspiration from the tri-star emblem on the state flag.
UT unveiled a new Nike design on Saturday. The “Volunteer State” uniforms are part of a Smokey Gray series that will see new uniforms appear every season through at least 2025.
The uniforms will feature a gray jersey with “Tennessee” in orange across the chest under the power T, a first for the team on a home game jersey. The Tri-Star logo will appear on the shoulders and pants. The pants will also feature the white stripes of the Tennessee state flag.
The helmet features a Power T and mountain design in shades of gray, paying homage to the state's Great Smoky Mountains National Park. An orange stripe runs down the center of the helmet, flanked by the white stripe of the Tennessee state flag. The helmet comes with a smoky gray facemask.
The three white stars represent the three districts of Tennessee: West, Middle and East.
The Vols will wear alternate uniforms during next season, with specific games to be announced at a later date.
The new Smokey Grey offering will be available at shop.utsports.com and local retailers later this month through early August.
UT's “Artful Dodger” smoky gray uniforms for the 2023 season paid tribute to trailblazer and former Vols quarterback Condridge Holloway, who was the first Black player to start at quarterback for an SEC program.
