Hawaiian discus thrower Hale Moa has qualified for the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, which begin Friday at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
Moore is the first University of Hawaii athlete to qualify for the US Olympic Track and Field Trials since Amber Kauffman (high jump) in 2008. A second-team All-American, Moore finished 11th at the NCAA Championships with a throw of 55.46 meters, becoming just the fourth Rainbow Wahine discus thrower to be named an All-American. She also threw a school-record 58.25 meters in the discus at the Big West Championships to win her second conference title.
Mohr will be one of 24 athletes competing in the discus event, scheduled to begin on June 24. The top three athletes in the trials will qualify for the 2024 Paris Olympics if they achieve the Olympic standard of 64.50 metres.
