The University of Denver men's hockey team, which doesn't like to be called a dynasty, won 10 NCAA national titles and cemented its place in college hockey history.
Team leaders found it difficult to explain how they felt less than 24 hours after winning the trophy.
“You pretty much just don't have any thoughts in your head. Everything just goes black and you just start screaming and grabbing your brothers and hugging them,” team captain McQuaid Webster said. “It's a great experience.”
“It hasn't really sunk in yet, but I'm proud of the players,” goalkeeper Matt Davis said.
It was a game that will forever be special to them, and the goalkeeper's play was outstanding.
“Matty Davis, that's how we won. That's how we won the tournament. It was unbelievable for us. Yeah. So, Matty Davis… national championship,” McQuaid said. Ta.
“The obvious save that Matty Davis made against Ryan Leonard probably stands out as a key moment. Goals… I think all key moments in a game are memorable, but now that we have time to reflect, I'm sure it's all very special.” Head Coach David Karl.
The team made history, becoming the first program to win 10 national titles. Although this is the most in college hockey history, he is not satisfied.
“From first one to 10, this is how I got the belt,” McQuaid said.
“Right now we're chasing our own records, so it's always fun,” Karl said.
We would like to say “Thank you'' to the fans who have supported them throughout the season.
“We just appreciate each and every one of them. Everything they've done for us is incredible,” Davis said.
The University of Denver announced it is planning a celebration Monday night.
