But for students attending college for the first time, the sports scene can sometimes seem overwhelming.
Imagine this: The fall semester has just begun, the first week of classes is over, you're starting to make friends on campus, you've won tickets to a football game through the student ticket lottery system and you're excited. That's great, but how does it work and what should you know?
To enter the stadium, students must go through a security checkpoint. Carolina Athletic Association Fans are encouraged to leave their bags at home. If they need to bring a bag, small clear bags are permitted. Artificial noise-making devices, explosives, fireworks, laser pointers, or any other items that may unduly distract players are prohibited.
Outside food and beverages are not permitted, but students may purchase food from concession stands inside Kenan Stadium. All transactions are cashless, so a card is required to make purchases at the concession stands. Fans may only purchase a limit of two alcoholic beverages per transaction. Alcohol sales will continue until the start of the fourth quarter.

There are a lot of cheers and chants you should know when watching a football game. When a team gets a first down, the announcer says, “First down tha…” and everyone in the stadium responds with, “Heels!” The chant is simple yet effective; it's easy to remember without much instruction, and incredibly powerful when the stadium is full.
