After all, Fatima Klein will no longer have to compete on Dana White's Contender Series.
Just days after news surfaced that Klein (6-0 MMA, 0-0 UFC) would be participating in DWCS on September 24, she called off that mission and immediately jumped to the big show. Less than two weeks later, Klein will move up to 125 pounds to face Jasmine Jasudavicius at UFC on ESPN 59 on July 13 at Ball Arena in Denver.
Yasdavicius (10-1 MMA, 4-2 UFC) was originally scheduled to fight Vivian Araujo, but Araujo withdrew for unknown reasons.
Two people with knowledge of the fight, including Klein's manager at KO Reps, Oren Hodak, recently informed MMA Junkie about the bout. The promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
The 23-year-old Klein comes to UFC as a double titleholder with top regional promotion CFFC. Prior to winning the CFFC strawweight and flyweight titles, Klein competed four times under the Invicta FC banner. She is the primary training partner of UFC women's flyweight contender Erin Blanchfield.
The 35-year-old Yasdavicius has won three of her last four fights, last competing in January when she defeated Priscila Cachoeira by third-round submission.
With the changes, the lineup for UFC on ESPN 59 will look like this:
-
Rose Namajunas vs. Tracy Cortez
-
Santiago Ponzinibbio vs. Muslim Salikhov
-
Drew Dober vs. Jean Silva
-
