Robert Whittaker is one step closer to regaining his middleweight title.
The former champion was the first fighter to step on the scales at Friday's official UFC Saudi Arabia weigh-ins at 2 a.m. ET (9 a.m. local time in Riyadh), making it in at 186 pounds for Saturday's non-title main event. His last-minute opponent, Ikram Aliskerov, also made it in, making it in at 184 pounds.
Aliskerov was scheduled to compete in the co-main event of UFC Las Vegas 93 last Saturday but was replaced by an ill Khamzat Chimaev on one week's notice.
All 22 fighters competing at UFC Saudi Arabia made it to weigh-in, which must have been a relief for those involved after several scheduled bouts were rescheduled or canceled.
The only notable drama surrounding the weigh-ins came at media day earlier this week, when Kelvin Gastelum revealed he would not make the 170-pound limit. Gastelum had recently returned to welterweight but left the division due to difficulties making weight. According to his opponent, Daniel Rodriguez, Saturday's bout was moved to middleweight at the request of Gastelum's team.
Gastelum (184.5) and Rodriguez (184) both made the weight limit.
