Manel Cape will miss the main event against Mateusz Nicolau on April 27th.
“Starboy” confirmed in an Instagram post that he suffered a fractured cartilage in his rib and underwent surgery on March 27th. The cancellation marks Kape's ninth UFC fight cancellation since 2020, although he has only fought six times under the promotion.

“This is the first time I've gotten out of a fight,” Cape wrote. “I fractured the cartilage in my ribs and couldn't move for a week. The surgery last Thursday went very well. Keeping in mind that all games that have been canceled in the past have been the fault of the opponent. Please, where I came from.'' We were fighting for free, so I'm not bragging, I'm just being honest, so don't ever think I'm the same as you guys. Allah is great. ”
While Cape's caption is technically correct as this is his first absence, the Angolan fighter is also indirectly responsible for two other absences. The first time was in 2022 when he had a positive drug test against Sumdaelji, and the second time was when he was underweight against Nicolau in January 2024.
Given that he was unlucky with his opponent's pullouts, and given that it looked like the UFC was giving him a chance to move into the top five flyweight divisions despite having so many cancellations. His injury is ironic.
